Go Screen Free

We are so excited to bring back the screen free pledge and hope that you will join your student in the challenge to let go of screens Monday Oct. 30 thru Friday Nov. 3. Read over the pledge with your student and if they are up for the challenge have them sign and return to their teacher on Monday.

All students that turn in a pledge card will be entered in a raffle to win prizes such as jump ropes, gift cards to Fusion or Half Price Books, or a 3 month membership to the YMCA!

Family Read-Aloud

Screen Free/Wellness Week is a great time to get lost in the adventure of a good book!

Award winning books are a great resource to get ideas of good read aloud books. Look for titles that seem to fit your child's interests. Check reviews to see if the book is age appropriate. Pick up your book (and others) at a local library today!

Family Read-Alouds are a great source of quality time with your child. Take some time by yourself beforehand so you can be refreshed and relaxed as you enjoy reading and talking together. Share your thoughts as you read: you and your child can make connections to the book through experience or feelings you've had, places you've been, or other books you've read.

Engage with our school community: share what book you're reading on the Indianola Informal K-8 Friends and Family Facebook Group. Other families will appreciate book recommendations especially when you share the ages/grades of kids who enjoyed it.

Tuesday: Costume Parade and Class Parties

Tuesday, October 31st will be a special day at Indianola. The annual Fall Parade takes place at 2 pm. Students may bring costumes to wear during a parade along the school sidewalks (please no weapons, swords, etc).

Join us for this fun fall celebration! Adults who volunteer in the classroom for this event MUST bring a photo ID to scan through the visitor management system. Please arrive early as we often have many family members participate (ID is not required for spectators of the parade who do not plan to enter classrooms).

PTO Meeting This Wed, Nov 1st

All Indianola families are invited to attend our monthly PTO meetings the first Wednesday of the month beginning at 6:30 pm. Many exciting projects and events are already underway, but others can use YOUR skills and talents. Come find out how you fit into the Indianola family!

Please read last month's minutes.

Add even more fitness to your week by attending the Aquatics Center 50th Anniversary celebration on
Saturday November 4th from 2pm to 6pm.
